When it comes to choosing a good SPF I become a very picky person. It needs to be natural (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), when it’s natural it can’t have nano-particles as they are carcinogenic. Also, since I only choose natural SPF, it is best when it also doesn’t leave any white cast (although, thanks to lovely Sofie of Practically Pure blog, I’ve found a little trick to prevent the dreary white cast — olive oil! Or actually any other oil/facial or body oil, like almond or jojoba oil. Just apply it right before the SPF and voilà no white cast!). Also, the perfect SPF for me means that it’s lightweight and obviously provides high SPF.
Now, I really love Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturiser SPF30 mentioned in my previous post, but I really wanted to try something new. I’ve found out about Marie Veronique Organics quite recently and have heard so many great things about their products that I couldn’t resist the urge to buy at least one of them. This one product I got turned out to be their Everyday Coverage Tint SPF 30. I got mine in Light Tint. When it arrived I had to test it right away. It has a very light, almost gel-like texture and light, pleasant scent that reminds me of rosemary. The tint itself looks pretty dark when first applied on the face, but after blending, it is basically a perfect match for my skin tone. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue, I would say it actually gives a demi-matte finish. The coverage itself is quite sheer so I need to use a mineral foundation and concealer over it. The most important thing is that it does not leave any white cast and it’s really lightweight. Also, it provides both UVA and UVB protection. I really like it and use it quite often when I don’t use my Kimberly Sayer moisturiser with SPF30. The only disadvatange is that it is really pricey. But a little goes a long long way with it. Will it replace my beloved Kimberly Sayer SPF? Probably not because of its price but it is definitely a great SPF to try and have for special occasion.
