January Favourites.

I have to say I’m really glad that January is officially over. It’s my least favourite month of the year and this year’s January was a big let down as well. I’m sure many of you feel the same about January. There is no money left after all the Christmas shopping, there is not much to look forward to, the weather is dreary and it’s still dark for the most part of the day.

However, there are always things that make me happy and here is a little list of them. Also, as I didn’t want to spend too much money, this month’s favourites are a mix of beauty and lifestyle.

I don’t know what is it about January but I generally can never get a good night’s sleep no matter I do and I just tend to stay up until late, which obviously results in horrible under eye circles. This month my saviour has been Jane Iredale’s Circle/Delete Concealer in #2.This concealer is just fantastic. It consists of two shades, darker, salmon one and lighter, skin tone like one. Salmon shade is made to neutralise blue undertones, whereas lighter colour highlights the inner and outer corner of the eyes. The two shades can also be mixed and applied this way to the entire under eye area. It gives a matte finish, but thanks to Moringa Seed Oil it protects the delicate skin from drying out. It’s very pigmented, therefore you only need a small amount for it to work its magic, this also means that it will last a very long time.
It definitely saved me after all the late and sleepless nights this January.

In my last post, I reviewed Ere Perez Mascara that I’ve been using every single day and which I love. However, the only downside I found with it was its removal. It’s a pain to take it off. I’ve tried everything possible. Balms, oils, micellar water, you name it. Nothing seemed to be working. I still had to spend quite a while almost scrubbing it off my lashes. Then, sometime in December I was browsing through Content Beauty website and I stumbled across this Eye Make-Up Remover by Grown Alchemist. It claimed to remove waterproof make-up so I decided to give it a go and I am more than happy that I did. When it comes to removing Ere Perez mascara it works like a charm. I put some of it on cotton rounds, gently rub, and everything is gone! It removes all eye make-up in one go. I shall repurchase it once I run out.

Now, onto the non-beauty favourites this month.
First one has to be Nigel Slater’s latest book A Year of Good Eating: The Kitchen Diaries III which was on sale on Amazon. Good old Amazon, always with the best deals. Nigel is pure genius. Not only does he create great, simple, and tasty recipes, but he is one of the most talented food writers out there. The way he writes about food is like true poetry. It makes you want to curl up on the sofa or in the bed with a good cuppa and just read it from start to finish. It’s like the most cosy book ever written. The recipes are delicious too.

Last, but definitely not least, most of my nights in January consisted of binge watching Being Human (U.K.). I don’t even know why I haven’t discovered it sooner. If you’re a fan of supernatural shows, you are going to love this one. Especially that it incorporates comedy elements too.
Basically, it’s a show about three twenty-something housemates trying to live a normal life whilst being a vampire, a ghost, and a werewolf. This trio is just fantastic, you just cannot not love them. The actors are spot on for these roles. Russell Tovey and Lenora Crichlow are just hilarious. Plus, the vampire is played by Aidan Turner. If you don’t know who that is, I urge you to go check now, you will not be disappointed #hotstuff.

Goodbye, January. You will not be missed.
