First, I’m really sorry for absence for the past 3 months almost, as I was struggling with different illnesses that kept coming on and off. I’m well now and happy to be back to blogging. In today’s post I wanted to share with you my little (or not so little) list of summer essentials. No matter if you’re staying in the city or heading to some amazing beach, the following products will make you feel great and beautiful.
The most important thing no matter where you are and what season it is, would be using good SPF on your face and other parts of your body that are exposed to the sun. I cannot stress enough how important it is to apply SPF daily as it prevents not only premature skin ageing, but most importantly skin cancer. My current favourite is Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturiser SPF30, but I’m planning to test few others in the near future with reviews to come. I love this one as it’s really lightweight and you can use it alone or on top of your regular moisturiser. It doesn’t leave any white cast, absorbs instantly, and smells citrusy. Also, it does not clog pores and it’s actually great for blemish prone skin. Perfect for hot summer days!
Next product I’m really loving in the summertime is Bodhi Mint Thé Refreshing Bath & Shower Therapy gel. It smells divine (like all Bodhi products) and really refreshing. It’s made for those hot mornings and nights when you want to feel clean and cool down. Speaking of showers and baths, my another favourite product is Weleda Shaving Cream. Initially made for men, is a favourite of many ladies including myself. The tube is not big, but the product itself is like nothing else I’ve tried. I have a tendency to get a very pesky razor burn but with this wonderful cream I forgot what razor burn means. It doesn’t lather a lot, it’s more of a thick cream, however, it doesn’t clog the razor. It also washes off easily and leaves your skin soft and moisturised.
Another staple not only in the summer is Lavanila Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Passion Fruit. I’ve tried so many natural deodorants, but this is the only one that actually works and doesn’t irritate my skin. It isn’t available in Europe unfortunately so I always make sure to stock up when I go to America. However, you can find it here Lavanila Deodorant (they ship anywhere in the world!).
There is one not so fun thing about summer — insects. I’m an avid nature lover, but I certainly don’t enjoy being bitten by mosquitoes. I found something to keep them, and other little flying guys, at bay and it is Intelligent Nutrients Bug Repellent Serum. Now, isn’t the picture of a little vampire on the bottle adorable? Apart from the cute packaging it actually works. It contains a whole host of different essential oils, like rosemary, peppermint, lemongrass, citronella, and thyme, which smell nice to us, but not so much to bugs.
In the summertime you also need a multi-tasking oil and one of my favourites has to be argan oil. I have one by Kaé and it’s pretty pricey, but you can find many cheaper options. While I was in the US I used Acure Argan Oil which was cheaper but as great as the Kaé one. Use it on your face, body, and hair. I particularly like to use it on my hair (just the ends) to keep it shiny and protect it from any damage.
When it comes to makeup, it’s best to keep it simple in the summer. I like to use my beloved RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up for any areas of my face that need some more coverage and then dust some mineral powder or foundation over to keep it in place. I’m currently loving mineral foundation by KIDE. It’s a Finnish makeup brand that also makes mineral makeup and it’s a pure luxury. Not only their wooden packagings are amazing but also products themselves. It’s very pricey but a little goes a long way. Next, don’t forget about some blusher, I love all by RMS Beauty, you just can’t go wrong with their Lips2Cheek multi-tasking little beauties. A little bit of blusher looks great in the summer with some tan (for me it’s faux-tan only as I don’t tan). You can’t forget about some natural-looking mascara, but one that won’t melt in the heat. Currently I’m using and loving Tarte Gifted mascara, which is another thing I brought with me from my journey to the US. At the end, to finish your summer makeup you can add some lipstick in peachy or corally hue. My favourites for this time of year are ILIA Beauty Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady and Shell Shock (which for some reason I forgot to add to my photo). They are like lipsticks but more subtle, more shiny, more moisturising, and most importantly very lightweight on the lips. They are definitely my favourite lip products and I can’t wait to try their new lip glosses as well! They look so lovely.
There you go, your summer beauty kit sorted. What are your summer beauty essentials?
P.S. I’m leaving this week for a little holiday to my summer house and the only Internet connection I will have will be the one on my phone and only in certain places outside (I’m surrounded by a shed load of trees there!), so I’m sorry if I’m not able to respond to your comments right away. Wishing you all a great week!
